The fjords of Norway
are unique. Fjords are the result of past glaciation extending below the
current sea level. A fjord is formed when a glacier retreats, after carving
its typical U-shaped valley, and the sea fills the resulting valley floor.

The Norwegian Sognefjord is the world’s longest fjord and extends
more than 200 km (120 miles) inland.
The region where this deep fjord meets the glaciers and Norway’s
highest mountains is considered one of the world's most beautiful travel
destinations.
The second part of the Vikingfjord name stems from this natural phenomenon
resulting from the glaciers – the water source of the vodka.
Traditionally vodka has always enjoyed a strong
position in Eastern European countries such as Russia and Poland. Indeed the
Slavic word 'voda' (water) is believed to be the original source for the word
'vodka'.
However, in Scandinavia there also exists a long tradition for vodka, where
the consumption of spirits is high. With the abundance of clean water resources
the environment has been ripe for vodka production from the outset.
The larger vodka brands from Scandinavia, such as Absolut and Finlandia, have
been dominating players in the world vodka market for decades.
Vikingfjord is part of this Scandinavian heritage, offering its true viking
spirit to dedicated vodka drinkers around the world, and especially the US!
