The Tall Poppy vineyards are located in the north-western region of Victoria and the bordering state of New South Wales.

Situated in Dareton, on the NSW side, and Robinvale, Victoria, they are close to Australia's largest river, The Murray. This area is part of the Murray Darling wine region.




The Murray Darling region has long been at the very heart of Australia's fruit growing industry. The potential of the area for vines was recognized as early as 1886 when George Chaffey, a pioneer from California, introduced the first irrigation systems. A virtual desert was turned into today’s ‘land of plenty’ and the region has since become a byword for progressive water provision techniques and innovative viticultural practices.

Today's leading edge approach to winegrowing and the pioneering of viticultural techniques such as minimal pruning and crop reduction has led to the region’s reputation as one of Australia's most significant wine growing areas.

Tall Poppy's 400 acres (200 hectares) of vineyards are in the hands of Barry Avery and Brian Ferry. They bring three generations of experience and expertise to the nurturing of Tall Poppy vineyards. Their implementation of these advances in technology and viticultural management has helped establish a new wave of quality producers in the Sunraysia and Murray Darling wine region.
